Hartsdale Insider: Staging area set up for Hartsdale train station elevator construction.

Construction to take place in 2022 and 2023.

Staging areas have been set up at Hartsdale train station this week

Over the years many residents of Greenburgh and town officials have pushed for an elevator to be constructed at the Hartsdale Train Station to make it more convenient for the disabled, elderly and for families with children who use strollers. Our dream is getting closer to reality.

The MTA elevator construction project at the Hartsdale Train Station started this week with mobilization. Serious construction will start probably around May and  will take place this year and extend into 2023.  The first steps in the process include mobilization of construction areas, with the taxi stand space in the Town as the first phase of mobilization. If you go to the Hartsdale train station you will see staging areas being set up. Contractor mobilization on the east side of the station is also taking place.

Minimal traffic disruptions are anticipated in connection with the mobilization phase which will take place over the month of March. Signage will direct pedestrians to alternate routes as necessary. Periodic updates will follow. Any traffic advisory notices will be posted to the Town website and sent via additional e-blast. I am very pleased that the MTA is investing in the station, making it accessible to all. Thank you to residents and commuters for your patience during the construction of this project.

Please expect inconveniences during the next two years. But, the wait will be worth it. The disabled and elderly should be able to use the trains.

Greenburgh Town Supervisor
