Hartsdale Insider: Hartsdale farmers market today- Bd approves 2nd location at Town Hall on Thursdays beginning June 30.

New location for Hartsdale farmers market.

Board approves a second farmers market at Town Hall on Thursdays beginning June 30.

The Hartsdale Farmers market is open today from 8 AM to 4 PM and all future Saturdays till late November. As a result of the MTA elevator project which is under construction the new temporary location will be in the drive lane adjacent to the Irish Bank restaurant.

The Town Board approved a second farmers market that will begin on Thursday June 30th at Greenburgh Town Hall parking lot. Colby Jenkins (Gemstarr Entertainment) was selected by a committee to be the market manager after a competitive interview process. That market will take place from 1 PM to 6 PM. This is the first year that we will have a weekly farmers market at Town Hall. Last year we experimented with two test markets at the location--a big success.

We hope you enjoy both markets.

Hartsdale Insider: New York State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti 92nd District: Hartsdale Elevator.

Assemblymember Abinanti has been pressing Metro-North⁩ to install an elevator at the Hartsdale Railroad Station for many years. When he became an Assemblymember he insisted that the project be included in the Metro-North Budget. Finally, the staging area is being set up for Hartsdale train station elevator construction in 2022/23.

Hartsdale Insider: Staging area set up for Hartsdale train station elevator construction.

Construction to take place in 2022 and 2023.

Staging areas have been set up at Hartsdale train station this week

Over the years many residents of Greenburgh and town officials have pushed for an elevator to be constructed at the Hartsdale Train Station to make it more convenient for the disabled, elderly and for families with children who use strollers. Our dream is getting closer to reality.

The MTA elevator construction project at the Hartsdale Train Station started this week with mobilization. Serious construction will start probably around May and  will take place this year and extend into 2023.  The first steps in the process include mobilization of construction areas, with the taxi stand space in the Town as the first phase of mobilization. If you go to the Hartsdale train station you will see staging areas being set up. Contractor mobilization on the east side of the station is also taking place.

Minimal traffic disruptions are anticipated in connection with the mobilization phase which will take place over the month of March. Signage will direct pedestrians to alternate routes as necessary. Periodic updates will follow. Any traffic advisory notices will be posted to the Town website and sent via additional e-blast. I am very pleased that the MTA is investing in the station, making it accessible to all. Thank you to residents and commuters for your patience during the construction of this project.

Please expect inconveniences during the next two years. But, the wait will be worth it. The disabled and elderly should be able to use the trains.

Hartsdale Insider: Hartsdale train station elevator project UPDATE.

construction of the elevator at the train station is progressing! The elderly and disabled will be very pleased.

Hartsdale train station elevator project update---contract awarded--construction to start this year

A very exciting and important project that will help the disabled and elderly (but there will be short term inconveniences).

Metro North advised town officials this week that the elevator project contract to construct an elevator at the Hartsdale train station was awarded late last year (in Dec).  They are currently reviewing contractor’s submittals, including schedule. And will keep the town posted.  Once we are provided with more details we will schedule a community meeting with community residents because there will be inconveniences.  Short term pain is worth long term gain. We have been pushing for an elevator at the Hartsdale train station for decades. There are many disabled and elderly residents of Hartsdale and the surrounding areas who will benefit greatly from an elevator at the train station. The elevator is needed and is important.

I asked about the Hartsdale Farmer's market -which we have held at DeSanti Plaza for many years.  DeSanti PLaza is right next to the train station. Because they expect work to begin by June it was suggested that the town look for alternative locations.

From Metro North: "We suggest finding an alternate location for the farmer’s market. We anticipate on-site work will have started by June."

The town is committed to a Farmer's market at Greenburgh Town Hall.  One possible option in addition to Town Hall would be the parking lot at Webb Field, Richard Presser Park on Central Ave.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated. E mail townboard@greenburghny.com
