Hartsdale & Fairview have scheduled their Memorial Day ceremonies. Info below.
Hartsdale Fire Chief Ray Maseda has advised that the Memorial Day parade will start at DeSanti Plaza (across the Hartsdale train station) on Monday at 10 AM. At the conclusion of the ceremony, parade on E Hartsdale Ave the fire department will treat marchers with their traditional flying saucer ice cream sandwich at the Hartsdale firehouse afterwards. If you live on E Hartsdale Ave or need to travel across the Ave - please avoid the Avenue from around 10 AM to 10:45 AM.
The Fairview Fire Department will host a very brief Memorial Day Ceremony at our memorial located at Greenburgh Police Department Headquarters. The Ceremony will start at 11:30. It will be very brief and respectful. No parade. At the conclusion of the ceremony the Fairview Fire Department will host their annual Memorial Day BBQ at the Fairview Headquarters. The apparatus bay doors will be open and some seating will be outside.
There are other ceremonies in Elmsford, Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley, Irvington, Tarrytown. The Hastings parade begins at 2 PM on Sunday, not Monday.Have a great Memorial day --remember our veterans and take the time to watch some of the 150 living history interviews with World War II and Korean veterans on public access TV all weekend.
