Hartsdale Insider: Hartsdale train station elevator project UPDATE.

construction of the elevator at the train station is progressing! The elderly and disabled will be very pleased.

Hartsdale train station elevator project update---contract awarded--construction to start this year

A very exciting and important project that will help the disabled and elderly (but there will be short term inconveniences).

Metro North advised town officials this week that the elevator project contract to construct an elevator at the Hartsdale train station was awarded late last year (in Dec).  They are currently reviewing contractor’s submittals, including schedule. And will keep the town posted.  Once we are provided with more details we will schedule a community meeting with community residents because there will be inconveniences.  Short term pain is worth long term gain. We have been pushing for an elevator at the Hartsdale train station for decades. There are many disabled and elderly residents of Hartsdale and the surrounding areas who will benefit greatly from an elevator at the train station. The elevator is needed and is important.

I asked about the Hartsdale Farmer's market -which we have held at DeSanti Plaza for many years.  DeSanti PLaza is right next to the train station. Because they expect work to begin by June it was suggested that the town look for alternative locations.

From Metro North: "We suggest finding an alternate location for the farmer’s market. We anticipate on-site work will have started by June."

The town is committed to a Farmer's market at Greenburgh Town Hall.  One possible option in addition to Town Hall would be the parking lot at Webb Field, Richard Presser Park on Central Ave.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated. E mail townboard@greenburghny.com
